The Community Power Coalition’s position paper on the ongoing reform of the Electricity Market Design
To achieve a just energy transition to a fossil-free and resilient energy system that meets the EU’s climate targets, it is increasingly important to recognize the role of energy communities and energy sharing.
Therefore, the Community Power Coalition advocates that in the ongoing Electricity Market Design reform the European Commission must provide the grounds for an equitable and resilient energy system, and deliver for energy communities.
To achieve that, the coalition demands
- local ownership as a fundamental overarching principle underlying the reform;
- safeguarding energy sharing as a resilience driver for consumers;
- a supportive environment for investment in local energy sharing projects by local actors.
